How often should you exfoliate your skin?

How do you know if you are over exfoliating?
It is quite easy to tell if you're over doing it on the exfoliators. The most common signs are:-
1) irritation
2) redness
3) otherwise inflamed skin
Eventually, your complexion can become dry and flaky. You may even develop a rash like texture, leading to uneven tone. Breakouts are another common reaction, especially small, rough, bumpy pimples. Sometimes even oil production increases.
Incase, if you find out that you are over exfoliating your skin then it's okay don't panic! Just make sure that you don't use an exfoliator for a week and give your skin time to recover and ease your exfoliator back into skin care routine. You can also shift to some other mild exfoliator and see if that helps.
