What causes blackheads?

Blackheads are small bumps that appear on your skin due to clogged hair follicles. Blackheads form when a hair follicles in the skin becomes clogged or plugged. Dead skin cells and excess oil collect in the follicle's opening which produces a bump. These bumps are called blackheads because the surface looks dark or black. Blackheads are a mild type of acne.

It usually form on the face but again they can also appear on different parts of body like:-
1) Back
2) Chest
3) Neck
4) Arms
5) Shoulders

Blackheads form when a clog or plug develops in the opening of hair follicles in your skin. Each follicle contains one hair and a sebaceous gland that contains oil. This oil is called sebum which helps to keep your skin soft. Dead skin cells and oils collect in the opening to the skin follicle which produces a bump called comedo. If the skin over the bump stayed closed then that bump is called a whitehead. And if the skin over the bump opens then exposure to the air causes it to look black which forms blackheads.

What happens if you don't remove blackheads?

There are tons of reasons why these pesky little bumps appear like various medications, heavy moisturizers and sunscreens, as well as hormones and the birth control pills. But squeeze them is not a good idea. I know it can be tempting to squeeze blackheads that pop up on your skin. Their texture and noticeability on your skin beckons for removal but you should not try to pick them for various reasons.

By doing so you could be risking long-lasting and more harmful skin issues by trying to remove blackheads with your figures. Because blackheads can be fairly resilient and hard to remove. This will cause skin irritation and potentially get more bacteria inside the blemish leading to cysts and nodules. In the process you may also stretch your pore which can leave it permanently enlarged.

Bacteria is embedded within the blackhead and when you expel the blackheads it also releases bacteria which can affect the surrounding pores. It may cause further blackheads down the line. Squeezing your skin and applying pressure can really irritate your skin. And it can also cause inflammation in the area where you tried to remove the blackheads and also leave scarring. Sometimes the tissue surrounding the blackhead can also develop dark spots due to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
